1. Who we are
Paprclipr (“Paprclipr,” “we,” “us”) runs a mobile app and related website that help people list items, find nearby offers, message, and arrange item-for-item barter trades.
Paprclipr is operated by Paprclipr Inc., 7070E Farrell Rd SE PMB 834, Calgary, AB T2H 0T2, Canada.
Privacy requests: privacy@paprclipr.com. General support: hello@paprclipr.com or Support.
2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed through the Paprclipr iOS and Android apps and the pages on paprclipr.com. It does not control third-party sites or apps you open from our Service.
3. Information we collect
What we collect depends on how you use Paprclipr. Typical categories for a local barter marketplace include:
- Account and profile — email, authentication credentials (passwords are hashed by our auth provider), username/display name, optional profile photo, notification preferences, and premium/subscription status if you use paid features.
- Listings and media — item photos (camera or library), titles, descriptions, categories, condition, and trade interests you provide.
- Location — approximate or precise location when you grant permission, so we can power nearby discovery and matchmaking. You can deny or revoke permission in device settings; some nearby features may be limited without it.
- Approximate location. If you’ve allowed Paprclipr to use your location, the app saves a rough version of it (accurate to about 1 km, never your exact position) to your account when you open the app. We use it only to find items listed near you and to send you an occasional Local Activity notification, such as how many new items were listed nearby. It’s never shown to other users. Each update replaces the last one, so we don’t keep a history of where you’ve been. You can stop it at any time by turning off location access for Paprclipr in your phone’s settings, and you can turn off Local Activity notifications in the app’s settings. Deleting your account deletes it.
- Messages and trades — in-app chat and negotiation messages; proposals, counters, and accept/decline actions; reviews, ratings, badges; and optional activity you choose to share (for example Trade Journey posts).
- Support communications — emails or form messages you send us.
- Device, push, and diagnostics — push notification tokens (if enabled), device type/OS, app version, IP address, crash logs, and similar telemetry needed to run and secure the Service.
- Referrals — referral codes and related account identifiers if you use an invite feature.
We do not collect dating preferences, biometric face templates, or social-network friend lists of the kind common in dating apps. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Why we use information
- Create and secure accounts (including auth flows such as Supabase-backed signup and password reset)
- Show nearby listings and enable matchmaking
- Host photos and listing content
- Power messaging, negotiations, reviews, and badges
- Send transactional email and optional push notifications you enable
- Unlock premium features purchased through an app store, when applicable
- Moderate content, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms
- Improve reliability, safety, and product quality
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with law and protect users, the public, and Paprclipr
We do not use the content of your private trade chats to target third-party ads.
5. Legal bases (where applicable)
If you are in a region that requires a legal basis (for example the EEA/UK), we process data under: contract performance (to provide the Service); legitimate interests (security, improvement, fraud and abuse prevention); consent (for example precise location, push notifications, or optional marketing); and legal obligation when required.
For Canadian users, we handle personal information in line with applicable Canadian privacy rules (including PIPEDA where it applies). Provincial privacy requirements may also apply.
6. When we share information
We share information only as needed to operate Paprclipr:
- Other users — profile details you choose to show, listings, public reputation signals, and messages you send in chats or trades.
- Service providers — infrastructure and tools under contract, such as authentication, database/storage, email delivery (for example Supabase and Resend), crash/analytics tooling, and hosting, with confidentiality and security obligations.
- App stores / payment platforms — if you buy premium features, Apple, Google, or similar platforms process the purchase; we receive limited subscription status needed to unlock features.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, or to protect people, the public, or Paprclipr from harm, fraud, or abuse.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required.
7. Data retention
Your profile, listings, photos, and messages are removed right away; a limited record is kept for 90 days (up to 2 years if the account was reported or banned), as described in the Terms of Use.
When you delete your account, your profile, listings, photos, and messages are removed from the app right away. We keep a limited, access-restricted record (your account ID, email or phone number, login and IP logs, and records of completed trades) for 90 days, to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and respond to lawful requests, after which it is permanently deleted. If an account was reported or banned, we may keep that record and related reports for up to 2 years to keep the community safe and prevent banned users from rejoining. If we receive a valid legal request or are otherwise required by law, we may keep specific data until the matter is resolved.
When you report a chat, we keep a snapshot of that chat for 30 days so our moderation team can review the report. After 30 days, the snapshot is deleted.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards for a consumer marketplace app, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords via our auth provider, access controls, and application-level protections such as row-level security where configured. The app is designed to strip EXIF metadata from uploaded photos where implemented. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure—please use a strong unique password and keep your devices updated.
9. Your choices and rights
- Update profile and listing information in the app
- Control location and notification permissions in device settings
- Delete your account via Account Settings where available
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
- Object to or restrict certain processing where the law provides
Email privacy@paprclipr.com with the subject “Privacy Request.” We may need to verify your identity. We aim to respond within a reasonable time (often within 30 days). Additional rights may apply under PIPEDA, provincial privacy laws, GDPR/UK GDPR, or CCPA/CPRA depending on where you live.
10. Children’s privacy
Paprclipr is for people 13 and older. If you are under the age of majority where you live (19 in Alberta), you need a parent or guardian's consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. International processing
Our providers may process data in Canada, the United States, and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate transfer safeguards. If you use Paprclipr from outside Canada, you understand your information may be processed in Canada and/or the U.S.
12. Website notes
The marketing website is primarily static and may generate ordinary hosting logs (such as IP address and user agent). If cookies or third-party analytics are added later, this section should be updated before those tools go live. Third-party links have their own privacy practices.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated in-app or by email when appropriate.
